Story Behind The Song
You can find the greatest music in the most unassuming places.
Song Description
Inspired by the early to mid-sixties dance parties held in and around Philadelphia, PA, many of which were televised and many of which I personally attended. They were hosted by Jerry Blavat ("The Geator With The Heater") and local Philadelphia AM Radio Host, Hy Lit. Some of the dance parties were held in large dance halls; however, some were held in very small and intimate clubs, packed to the gills with "yon teens" (as Jerry would say). South Street in Philadelphia was a very hot spot to party back then.

Lyrics
Ain't it time we had a party?
Well, there's a party goin' on, just north of South Street
In a little red shack, just north of South Street
Movin' and a-shakin', just north of South Street
The band is a-rockin', just north of South Street
Brass is a-blowin', just north of South Street
Dancin' and a-singin', just north of South Street
They got the three-part harmony, just north of South Street
They got "The Geator" and "Daddy G.", just north of South Street
They got Junior and Stagger Lee, just north of South Street
(solo) (ad lib - Hey, just shut up and listen!) (solo)
Ah, there's a party goin' on, just north of South Street
In a little red shack, just north of South Street
Shakin' and a-movin', just north of South Street
Oh, now, baby won't you come with me, just north of South Street
Cost you nothin', we can get in free, just north of South Street
Ain't nowhere that I'd rather be, just north of South Street
Oh, yeah!
