It was inspired by my introspective thoughts as my 80th birthday approached.

Time now for us is dear,

Gone are the frets and frays,
Gone are the children raised,
Time with them near is dear,

Weren't we youngsters just the year before last?
Where did they go, the years passed so fast?
Did we fulfill the promise of youth?
Did we discover some wisdom and truth?

So, to our thoughts we turn,
Harvesting what we've learned,
Time to give help, bring cheer,
To all those we hold dear,
And to all with tears or fear,
For a day, a month, a year,

For as long as we are here!
