Story Behind The Song
There's a certain magic that happens when you tap into nostalgia, not just as a memory, but as a creative force. That's exactly what I felt while writing and recording my new song, "Gen X Forever." It wasn't just about lyrics or melody, it was a time machine back to the years that shaped me.
Most of us look back on our childhood as a special time, but Gen X'ers wear theirs like a badge of honor. We were the last kids to grow up without the internet but the first to embrace it. We knew life before smartphones, yet somehow figured out how to navigate every new technology since. We're the latchkey kids, the mixtape makers, the ones who learned independence early and lived for Saturday morning cartoons, BMX bikes, arcade games, and music.
Writing "Gen X Forever" gave me a chance to celebrate all of that. It was like pulling out old photo albums, only instead of pictures, I had sounds, images, and moments that came flooding back. The boom of a stereo blasting Def Leppard, the hum of a VCR rewinding, the crackle of a landline phone call at midnight. All of it found its way into the spirit of the song.
More than anything, this project reminded me that our generation wasn't just about rebellion, it was about resilience, resourcefulness, and heart. We didn't grow up with participation trophies, but we knew how to show up and stick it out. And yeah, we might roll our eyes at TikTok trends, but we'll forever be proud of where we came from.
Creating "Gen X Forever" wasn't just a fun trip down memory lane, it was a full-on celebration. A tribute to the grit, the greatness, and the undeniable determination of a generation that got it right.
Here's to the ones who lived it loud--Gen X forever.

Lyrics
Verse 1
We were raised on vinyl and Saturday shows
MTV taught us most things that we know
Latchkey kids with a Walkman soul
Surviving each day was the ultimate goal
We made our own mixtapes, no playlists my friend
Each cassette seeming to have no end
We drank from hoses and tamed rides of steel
No helmets, no rules, just raw and real
We came up hard without safety nets
Scratched and clawed through every test
Built from sarcasm and raised on grit
Endured every punch and never quit
The streets we called home offered lessons true
Taught us to fight and see things through
Chorus
Gen X here don't mess with us
We thrive on chaos and are made of rust
Bend don't break we invented the line
Our generation was ahead of its time
We did it alone didn't need no praise
Still standin' strong in the digital age
Raised by boomers we're tough that way
Generation X will never fade
Verse 2
Boombox kings that wore tie dyed jeans
And parachute pants were an actual thing
A fast life with hair metal in our veins
Echoes of youth screaming through the flames
Slackers they called us, misunderstood
But we turned "whatever" into something good
No cryin' allowed the boomers would say
So we turned up the volume and played our way
No maps, no apps, no device in your hands
Our lives were shaped by the battle of bands
Arcade dreams and cassette tape highs
We chased the night under Gen X skies
Back when rebellion was more than a phase
We lived out loud in those reckless days
No filters, no likes, just living it raw
Breaking the rules 'cause we were the law
Chorus
Gen X here don't mess with us
We thrive on chaos and are made of rust
Bend don't break we invented the line
Our generation was ahead of its time
We did it alone didn't need no praise
Still standin' strong in the digital age
Raised by boomers we're tough that way
Generation X will never fade
Bridge
We were the static between every song
Misfits who knew where we truly belong
Raised on the fringe with a fist in the air
Taught the world how not to care
We danced through the fire with no one to save
Shouting out loud from cradle to grave
Forgotten by many, remembered by few
But we changed the game and we always knew
Chorus
Gen X here, you know what we do
We're proud to be a motley crew
Somehow we survived eight track tapes
Still the 80's were a most magical place
No script to follow, we wrote our own page
The last real rebels of the modern age
We lit up the dark with a spark and a scream
Built a legacy louder than anyone dreamed
Our hair ain't as big but don't test our might
Gen X forever -- we got it right
Outro
Still got that fire, still play it loud
Still walk our path, heads unbowed
We paved the road with heart and fight
Gen X forever -- we got it right
