Ode to Billie Joe

Story Behind The Song

Another classic song, written and performed originally by an amazing talent, Ms. Gentry. This version is a bit more upbeat, which is quite ironic, considering the topic, but seemed to fit the mood in the studio that day. We imagined ourselves on stage with the band getting increasingly energized (particularly the guitar player) and we fooled around with the beat as well as changing keys toward the end. This is truly one of the best songs ever created out of just 2 chords!
