Story Behind The Song
I wrote the first version of this song in 1989 after the Berlin wall fell and the Chinese Army dispersed protestors with tanks in Tiananmen Square.

Lyrics
We're Standing Tall
by Doug Adair © 1990 & 2015
Verse 1
the winds of change that sweep the lands
are crumbling barriers like shiftin' sands
and in their wake we have a golden chance
to shape the future, now it's in our hands
Chorus
we're standing tall (standing tall)
like never before (like never before)
no, they can't keep people in the dark anymore
Verse 2
In a world that's filled with hate and rage
Let peace and understanding take the center stage
communication is our guiding light
for truth illuminates the darkest night
Chorus
we're standing tall (standing tall)
like never before (like never before)
no, they can't keep people in the dark anymore
Break
Modulate
Verse 3
the tide is turning we can reach our goals
if we find the courage in our hearts and souls
now's the time for all to take a stand
if we work together, you know we can
Chorus
we're standing tall (standing tall)
like never before (like never before)
no, they can't keep people in the dark
no, they can't keep people in the dark anymore
