Somehow it feels like 40 years.
It's been so long since I've felt right
Now I'm so dry I can't shed tears.
It's such a struggle just for me to stand
Visions cloudy, knees are waeak
I close my eyes and see a vision of a bottle

Another waited and he survived.
He was sorely tried and tempted -- not by a bottle
But by the father of all lies - -saying
If you hunger, why not eat?
Make ye break from these here stones.
His reply was both calm and quiet ,
Man lives not by bread alone

You may fight me ...But alone you cannot win

Cast yourself down from this high place-- said the serpent
God won't let you dash your foot on this rock pile.
Again the simple answer, it is written
Don't put the lord your God on trial.
Losing patience the tempter stood before him
Worship me and all power will be yours!
At this he felt anger rise inside him
Worship God and serve him only ... Tempt me no more!

No I will never give in.. Oh no I won't
I will fight you ... And with faith I know I'll win
Oh yes I will!

Jesus was led by the spirit to pray
In the desert 40 days and nights unafraid
To be tempted by the devil after fasting for days
He was hungry and thirsty but his spirit wasn't phased.
That's where I'll find my strength in the days to come
When I feel I'm really weak and if I'm under the gun
If I don't know what to do or just where I can run.
