Story Behind The Song

Song Description
The song is about the love and struggles of a very long marriage between my parents George John Austin & Betty Austin. They were married for over 50 years. My Father George Austin was a very good jazz guitarist in the 1950's - 1960's. Around 1958 he played with Tubby Hayes (probably one of the greatest Tenor Sax players the UK every produced!). In addition, to playing on the eponmous Jazz 625 (BBC2) programme in 1963 with a 19 year old Dudley Moore (before he got in to comedy with Peter Cook). So my Father achieved quite a lot musically and I wanted to try and write a tribute song for both of them!
