Lyrics
Somebody Else's Son
By Jay Sellers

Her day starts like yesterday
Bright and early at five a.m.
She points that remote with a trembling hand
To Fox News and CNN
And sees that two young soldiers died in that attack last night
When the names roll across that t.v. screen she breaks down and cries...because
Chorus:
Somebody else's son died today
And somebody else's husband fell
In that God-Forsaken place
She feels guilty when she finds out
That her little boy wasn't one
'Cause she knows if it wasn't him it had to be
Somebody else's son
She tries to focus on a new days work
Post Office and a trip to the bank
But with the noon time bells of the Baptist Church
She bows her head for a quiet thanks
And says "God please keep him safe from harm just one more day
Help me deal with the pain I feel in my heart everytime I pray ...knowing"
Chorus:
Somebody else's son died today
And somebody else's husband fell
In that God-Forsaken place
She feels guilty when she finds out
That her little boy wasn't one
'Cause she knows if it wasn't him it had to be
Somebody else's son
Bridge:
And she falls asleep clutching that tracing
Of the fingers of his left hand
And she dreams of a summer ten years ago
And his corner lemonade stand
Somebody else's son died today.
Her day starts like yesterday
Bright and early at 5am
