This is a redo of a song I wrote about 4 years ago. Much of the story is true. Particularly the part about the waitress and the kind gesture where she tries to cheer me up.

KETCHUP SMILE VERSE 1
I was traveling down the interstate on a cold and dreary morning when I drove into some
freezing rain that came up without a warning. I saw a diner up ahead. I had to get out of that sleet. Maybe I could wait it out there and have a bite to eat. When my waitress took
my order guess she could see it in my face that I had something on my mind. I was in
another place. She told me that my order would be ready in a while but before she walked
away she put a plate in front of me. Took a bottle from the table and drew me a ketchup
smile.
VERSE 2 I've never been that way again. I'm living in another town but life goes on as usual. Still
has it's ups and downs. I've been married for a few years. I have a wife and a little girl.
She's a bundle of love. She's my life and my whole world. Last week was her birthday so
I took her on the town. When I'm with my little angel there's no way that I can be down.
She's the one thing in my life that makes it all worthwhile. We were eating in a burger
joint. She had her food all over her. Then she told me that she loved me and when I looked at her my darling little daughter was giving me a big ole ketchup smile.
