Lyrics
JOEY THE RODEO CLOWN
VERSE 1
Joe wasn't always a rodeo clown. He used to be a champion cowboy. He
was born to rope and ride. That was his biggest joy. There wasn't a bronc or
a bull alive that could put Joe on the ground. All it took was the love for
a woman to beat that cowboy down.
CHORUS
He's got a trailer full of buckles and trophies and plenty of scars to boot. All
he had on his mind was an eight-second ride every time they opened that
chute. Joe loved his woman more than anyone but the rodeo was in his
blood. After she left he tried to get over her but he never really could.
She wished he would change but she knew that he couldn't and she knew it
from the start. He survived all the bruises and broken bones but still lives
with his broken heart. He paints up his face to look funny so nobody can see
him frown. And when you see him out there on Saturday nights, he's "Joey
the Rodeo Clown" VERSE 2
Joe still travels the circuit cause the rodeo is his life. But he's not the man
he used to be ever since he lost his wife.
You can still see him now and then when the rodeo comes to town. But he's
no longer that rough and tough cowboy. He's "Joey the Rodeo Clown "
REPEAT CHORUS
