Story Behind The Song
My Mom had a Steinway that my father bought for her as a Birthday present. It was made in the early 1900's and had a unique mellow character. It also had a unique soft pedal that moved over a bit too far allowing only one string to be unmuted. I wanted to come up with a tribute to her and that beautiful instrument. My father had passed away when I was 14, and Mom had to raise me through a very tough time.
Song Description
While practicing as a teenager, I was fearful of playing in front of my relatives. I was ok in front of strangers, but I didn't have enough confidence in myself. So, I found solace in playing whatever came to mind by myself. After a while, I felt that I had something to offer, and one night, I really got into what I was playing to the effect that I had tears in my eyes. When I walked out of the livingroom, I found y mother sitting on the stairs. She had been listening all along. She had tears in her eyes, too. It was then I realized I really did have something to offer.
