Story Behind The Song

When I first met Elvin Jones in 1985 was in Tokyo at The Pitt Inn. I had played the night before with Gary Burton and saw the poster for Elvin's gig. He has been a hero of mine since I first got into jazz in the late 60's. I got to know Elvin and Kaiko over the years and love them as people. This song presents those feelings and is a tribute to a great man. At the same time that I wrote this song my old friend Eric Jacson of WGBH Radio in Boston returned to work after recovering from a serious illness and this was a fitting tribute to him as well. Welcome back Eric.
