Story Behind The Song
I got the idea for the song just thinking about boring things to do like watching paint dry or watching grass grow.
Song Description
While I was painting the floor, I was watching the paint dry and I noticed through a crack in the boards that there was a map. The map said there was treasure buried under the house. So I went into the cellar and became rich after I dug up the gold.

Lyrics
I was watching paint dry
When I thought I
Could do much more.
But I went on to paint
At a slow pace
Finish the floor.
Oh, the boredom.
Rescue me!
From the humdrum
Life I lead.
While painting the floor,
Between the boards,
There was a crack.
I shined a light down
And then I found
An old dusty map.
It showed me just where
Treasure was buried
Under my house.
So I put down my brush.
This time I rushed
To dig the ground.
Oh, the boredom.
Let me see,
Can this humdrum
Set me free?
I lit up a lamp.
Cellar smelled damp.
Walked down the stairs.
Cob webs were so thick
Hanging from bricks
Mold everywhere.
Map said dig by the wall
Hard to read scrawl
Did what it told
And dug for a bit.
My shovel hit
What looked like gold.
Oh, the boredom
Brought me here.
Now the humdrum's
Disappeared.
Thank you boredom,
What a switch
But your time's gone
'Cause I am rich!
