How I Wish

Story Behind The Song

This is a Christmas song that is meant to be uplifting and create a mood of peace.

Song Description

This is a Christmas song with female vocal (and minimal male back ground vocals), with piano, bass, cello, guitar and drums. I believe that Christmas is a state of mind and can be celebrated on a daily basis, because the mood of peace, love an joy can be with us always as long as he hold it in our hearts.

Lyrics

How I Wish
© 2013, John Gerard Macchietto

Verse 1: On a dark and snowy night
Mary came to rest --
Unaware her labor would
Bring mankind its best.

The joy she held within her heart
Soon spread 'cross the land --
How I wish I could have seen
This miracle first-hand.

Verse 2: On a dark and snowy night
The angels joined in song --
Showing that the prophesy
Was moving right along.

Singing joy and praises
Resounding through the land --
How I wish I could have heard
This joyous song first-hand.

(Instrumental - Humming)

Verse 3: On a dark and snowy night
The animals stood still --
Witnessing a miracle
Of wonder from God's will.

A presence of deep peacefulness
Shown in all their eyes --
How I wish I could have seen
The wonder in their eyes.

Verse 4: On a dark and snowy night
Christ came to us all --
The largest gift unto the world
In a package very small.

Showing us that we could have
The joy that's found above --
I don't have to wish for this
It's found in Christmas love.
(Humming).

Good lyrics....tell the story of the birth of Jesus. Very nice vocal arrangement. I like the instrumentation. Sounds like a Christmas ballad....definitely a market for it.

It's always nice to hear songwriters tell the Christmas story from their own slant. The strongest point of this song, in my opinion, is the melody. Your instrumentation is good. My favorite verse was the one with the animals. "I wish I could have seen the wonder in their eyes."
