Lyrics
Goin' Home
© 2003 Will Stanley
Fresh-faced and wide-eyed, young and naïve, full of wild ideas we wanted to believe
Those neon city lights made home look dull, so it was easy to leave.
A pair of bumpkins, without a clue, we rent a dank apartment, a brick wall for a view.
When we can't find jobs or friends and no one cares, we search for what to do.
Cold city, showed no pity, it left us feeling helpless and confused
Keep tryin, lots of cryin, after way too long, we realized the truth
And now we're headin out of town, leavin that world behind
Good riddance to the rat race, farewell grit and grime
We 're movin towards open space, to a place that's safe and warm,
Thank the Lord, we're finally, goin' home.
Purse stealers, drug dealers, we sure nuff got our fill of city blight
Stop mopin, and start hopin that the end of this long nightmare is in sight.
So we're headin out of town, leavin that world behind
Sayin goodbye to the hub-bub, adios urban crime
We 're movin towards open space, to a place that's safe and warm,
Thank the Lord, we're finally, goin' home.
Movin' back to the country, goin ' home.
