Story Behind The Song
This song was written in the 80's about a love interest of John's that went bad.
What happened when we were releasing the new album Glory and Grace we decided to use the same instrumental with a new twist about how we need the love of God.

CALL OF GOD
Music by John Cole Tatum © 1981
Lyrics by John and Rebecca Tatum
Produced by J†M and Jeff Lee
When the misty morning light gives you away
Will you hide your first strong intention to stray?
Did you give your reasons?
Did you know yesterday?
Life is only lost in pride
With a part time call
Either wrong or right
I want to give it all
All of these games I've played never seemed right
How can I keep on changing my mind?
All of my lies at night just upset me
And then God tells me all about love
I need the call of God in my life
I need the call of God
My situation never looked right
I need the call of God
Then when I fake like this could continue
Wanting more always fills me with why?
I only needed You when I'm overdue
Now I need my Jesus guiding my life
I need the call of God in my life
I need the call of God
My situation never felt right
I need the call of God
I'm all alone and I need you my God
And You have the stuff that makes me care enough
I'm really no treasure; I'm all hung up
My praying gets better but that's not enough
Not enough, not enough, not enough, not enough, not enough---oh, not enough
I need the call of God in my life
I need the call of God
My situation never felt right
I need the call of ...
You need the call of ...
We need the call of God
