Lights and Darks is the debut CD from Virgil Cain. Many styles of music are inspirational to the making of the album, yet all fit together in a pop/rock/mainstream sound. The lyrics are well thought out and the choruses have very memorable melodies and hooks. Virgil Cain is a multi-instrumentalist (Acoustic and electric guitars, piano, keyboards,acoustic and electric violins, drums, bass and other misc. instruments) that played all parts on the debut album. The album has many moods throughout. profound songs such as "Lenny" the story of wanting to visit someone for so long, only to find out it's too late in this world and "Far Away From Here"about an ending relationship....to really fun songs like "My Check" about going on unemployment and "Squish!" getting rejected by the friend of someone you like. A few instrumentals allow the CD to breathe, and the CD is seems very listenable many times over.
