The Reunion

There's only a handful of purely instrumental ensembles in Vegas, and most of them are really talented, well worth a night in a smoke clogged bar. The Reunion differs from Native Tonge and the Wayouts in several important respects, they're just a duo, they only play acoustic, and they don't play smoke-clogged bars. Despite these discrepancies, they are amazingly good. Like other stylists in this genre-Strunz and Farah come to mind-Todd Janko and Thomas Cacho know how to wring symphonies from six strings. There is such a poetic quality to "The Matador is Dead" and "Sobriety" that it's hard to believe these beautiful melodies were crafted in this dumb and violent era. Be sure to see these two fine musicians perform at the earliest opportunity, if no other reason than procure a copy of this gorgeous record yourself. (Crystal Dynamic-Scope Magazine, Las Vegas)
