The debut album of The Gloaming is powerful, melodic, harmonic, mezmerizing music that harkens back to the glory days of Cream, Led Zepellin, Mountain, Deep Purple, with little tastes of influences from Pink Floyd and Procol Harem. Although the album has a "military" perception (with songs such as "War Boots" and "Thunder Run") these songs simply speak of soldiers performing the task at hand. It is, after all, their job! These two songs are hard-driving and uptempo rock anthem songs that are timely and poynent. Ballads such as "Grip of the Sea" and "Release Me" show the obvous influences from Pink Floyd and Procol Harem, among other "experimental" bands of the 70s, with lyrics that are bold and production that forces you to listen even more closely. The 10 tracks on were recorded in the winter of 2007 at 12 Bar Sound Studios in St. Louis, Missouri and were engineered by Travis King, who has also recorded Javier Mendoza, Oakshore, Drew Mantia, TriTone, .... and even tracked some session for Mike Rowe from the Discovery Channel show "Dirty Jobs". Travis also engineered sessions for L.A. studio owner and Producer Skip Saylor. The album was produced by Larry Cowsert (Marquis Knox, Frank's Creation, Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne, Scotty Miller, The Squares, Drew Mantia). Mastering was done at Silvertooth Studios in Pittsburg, PA by Billy DeCampli (lead guitar player for Eddy Money and writer of "Two Tickets to Paradise",and "Easy Way Out".
