"This record came together as a combination of ideas: it's partially the live album that we always wanted to do, but never found the time. Seven songs were recorded live during two shows in Virginia. It's partially a "best of" CD—including some of my most requested numbers. And it's partially a recording of new material—eight new songs that have never been released on CD before. This is the CD many of you have asked me to do for years. It's mostly acoustic. And sounds most like my live shows because...well, because we played 'em live! Even in the studio, we recorded everything together—in the same room, at the same time. Minimal overdubs were used only to add things like bass, harmonies, and the occasional re-take due to out-of-tune guitars.
