Story Behind The Song
How the song came about..... I had just got this new Hohner harp with some 2.8 times more holes than standard harps. I brought it along to St. Louis and had it in the hospital where my dad was at the time. It was Super Bowl weekend and it seemed right to be watching it again with him as I recall watching Super Bowls 1, 2 3, etc at home. There's this funny relief to music that can happen and although it might have seemed appropriate to be blowing the blues, I'd put this harp to my lips and what would come out but a polka. Ater all, I am German, but talk about from left field! The nurse came by and said she thought Lawrence Welk was on. Ah well, sometimes you need a simple tune about dancing and having a good time. So ooompah and enjoy
Song Description
Riffing accordion and a polka beat take inspiration from the polka tunes I grew up hearing my mom and aunts dancing and singing to. Were she still with us, my Lawrence Welk loving great Aunt Gertie would be so happy......although I will say that it's probably hard to be very depressed during a polka tune.

Lyrics
Swing her left, then left some more
It's the Polka St.Louie
Dancing with a dizzy girl
It's the Polka St.Louie
1 -2 -3 , 1 - 2 - 3
Twirl round the floor
Left, right, left; left, right, left
Then dance it some more
Bridge
If you can count to three
If you can drink some beer
Then Polka St. Louie
With nothing to fear
If you've got some worries
Just check 'em at the door
If you carry burdens
Just stomp 'em on the dance floor
Send whatever bothers you
Into orbit ka-bloo-ee
Now it's time to have some fun
Dance the Polka St. Louie
